If there’s one feature that has the ability to make us look more overweight than we actually are, it’s the neck. Fullness of the neck and excess fat underneath the chin can often be very disproportionate to the rest of the face, which can add an overall heaviness to an individual’s appearance. What can be even more frustrating is the fact that the neck can be a particularly difficult area to get rid of fat, even with healthy eating and exercise. It can seem that no matter what you do, neck fat stubbornly remains.

This is why we are happy to provide neck liposuction in Richmond at the Virginia Institute of Plastic Surgery. Neck liposuction can greatly improve this area, leaving patients with sculpted chin and neck area, and much more confidence. It’s a straightforward, safe treatment that takes off both the appearance of excess weight and age.

Why Get a Richmond Neck Liposuction Procedure?

Neck liposuction is a fat reduction procedure that creates a more contoured appearance, enhancing the overall balance and symmetry of a patient’s facial features.

When it’s hard to tell where the face ends and the neck begins, a person can look heavier, less healthy, and older than they actually are. Our Richmond neck liposuction creates a clear distinction between the face and neck, making a significant improvement in the patient’s appearance.

Are You a Neck Liposuction Candidate?

If you’re interested in neck liposuction in Northern Virginia, you may be an ideal candidate. Those who are younger and who have very good skin tone and localized fat make excellent candidates for neck liposuction.

During your consultation, Dr. Sundin will go over your medical history, aesthetic goals, questions, and concerns in order to determine if neck liposuction is the best procedure for you.

Good candidates for neck liposuction also:

  • Are frustrated with pockets of fat around their neck that won’t go away with diet and exercise
  • Have good physical, mental, and emotional health
  • Have realistic expectations about what neck liposuction can achieve

The Neck Liposuction Procedure

During your neck liposuction procedure, fatty deposits in the neck area will be removed with a narrow, hollow tube called a cannula. Dr. Sundin will make a small incision in the natural crease of the neck, and will then insert the cannula into this incision. The cannula is pushed and pulled through the fat layer, which breaks up the fat cells. Then the cannula suctions out the broken-up fat cells.

Neck liposuction is an outpatient procedure that is performed under local anesthesia, and usually takes under an hour to complete. Dr. Sundin will take great care to perform your neck liposuction safely and beautifully, leaving the right amount of fat to keep results looking attractive and natural.
