If you’re looking for a treatment to give your tummy, chin, legs, back, or arms a quick tune up but don’t want anything major, we suggest our popular Northern Virginia LITTLE Lipo procedure.

Performed very comfortably with simple mild anti-anxiety medication and local anesthesia, our LITTLE Lipo is the best of both worlds: you get the expert performance of a surgeon, but the ease and convenience of a much smaller treatment.

LITTLE Lipo is one of the most popular procedures performed at the Virginia Institute of Plastic Surgery by Dr. Burton Sundin and Dr. Reps Sundin to delicately remove fat cells with minimal recovery. A perfect treatment for patients who want to slim down in certain areas, this advanced technique can reduce up to 80% of excess fat in just one session.

It’s Just a LITTLE Lipo!

Our Richmond LITTLE Lipo procedure is a revolutionary way to transform your body without the need for general anesthesia or a long recovery time. It’s minimally invasive, with a reduced recovery time of about 48-72 hours—so no one even has to know you’ve had it done.

This procedure helps to improve patients’ problem areas using only a local tumescent anesthetic and anti-anxiety medication. Because it doesn’t require general anesthesia, patients are awake and comfortable throughout the procedure.

The Northern Virginia LITTLE Lipo Procedure

Your procedure will performed in one of the serene and comfortable rooms at the Virginia Institute of Plastic Surgery. LITTLE Lipo is always performed by either Dr. Reps Sundin or Dr. Burton Sundin, both of whom are board certified plastic surgeons with decades of experience designing and performing customized body contouring.

When you arrive for your session, you will be given light oral sedation. Very tiny incisions will be made in order to allow access for both local anesthesia and the cannula to be inserted.

A local anesthetic (lidocaine) is combined with saline. This solution, called tumescence, very effectively numbs the area and makes the fat cells easier to remove. (However, we also offer general anesthesia with LITTLE Lipo if the patient prefers.)

Once the area that is being treated is numbed, the cannula goes to work. The cannula is a very thin, hollow tube that is also inserted into the incision. The cannula will move back and forth to break up the fat cells, and will then gently vacuum the broken-up fat away and out of your body.

How we Use External Radiofrequency to Improve Outcome

One of the most unique elements of LITTLE Lipo is the fact that we use external radiofrequency treatments to reduce swelling, smooth the results, and tighten skin following the procedure. This provides an added benefit and excellent results.

For many patients, LITTLE Lipo works well in combination with other body contouring techniques, including CoolSculpting, UltraShape, TruSculpt, Venus Legacy, fat grafting, and/or skin tightening with J-Plasma.

What is the Recovery from LITTLE Lipo?

Because of the use of local anesthesia, LITTLE Lipo is a more comfortable treatment with a shorter recovery time and fewer risks of unwanted side effects than the typical liposuction procedure. With LITTLE Lipo, most patients only need a long weekend to recover.

What Areas Can Be Treated with LITTLE Lipo?

No matter what area you want to be improved upon, LITTLE Lipo can help! This treatment is best for small volume fat reduction and targeted areas of fat.

This procedure can conveniently:

  • Minimize the appearance of love handles, muffin tops, and other fatty bulges around the stomach/hips
  • Slim down saddlebags, banana rolls under the buttocks, inner thighs, and hips
  • Improve a double chin
  • Reduce fat in the upper arms
  • Remove lower back fat, flanks, and bra fat

If you have greater volumes of fat, traditional liposuction may work better for you. This is something that Dr. Sundin will discuss with you during your consultation.
